Last night I finally arrived into the beautiful valley D’Alpago, Italy, where the ISMF Ski Mountaineering Championships will be held in a few days from now. The weather is lovely, the people friendly, the food fantastic, and the buildings quaint.
However, there is one little twist- there is not a lot of snow. Yesterday Kylee and I hiked for 40 minutes before we found snow. But it was a beautiful day and the valleys are stunning.
In the end- it’s more about making lemonade. That’s part of travelling- encountering the unexpected. We are having a blast. Skiing new terrain bootpacking to the tops of new peaks and looking out into new valleys. This place is amazing! And we are willing to shift our focus, and put in a little effort, we can find snow and some amazing views.
Attitudes are contagious- make yours worth catching!
