You- yes you!
The mountains do not discriminate. The rock doesn’t judge you based on your fitness level or climbing resume. The mountains don’t laugh because you’re as not as strong as the magazine athletes or if you’re scared of bears. The mountains aren’t a “members only” club. And that is why I love them!
Instead, anyone can find an avenue for their own adventure- whether it be a walk around the lake, a bike along a path, a climb at the crag, or a tent under the stars. Mother nature is accessible to all. Nature’s peace finds us all, releasing our bad energy with its rays of sunshine and its rain washing our souls. The mountains do not discriminate, but hold wide its cathedral doors to all who wander its way. There are many paths to take, not one which is right or wrong.
So next time you shy away from not being good enough, or look down at others, toss aside your judgement and insecurity.
Keep close to Nature’s heart and liberate yourself- whichever way you choose.
“May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.” (Edward Abbey)
